How to Extend Battery Life?

1
STATUS OF BATTERY BEFORE MOUNTING

Surface voltage of battery (V) should be at least 12,60 V.

If V is lower than 12,60 V;

Sulphation and/or Corrosion

If V is more than 12,60 V;

Proper

2
CHARGING OF VEHICLE

Appropriate charging voltage of alternator should be between 13,80 - 14,40 V (recommended) in automobile batteries. Voltage values should be measured separately for batteries of buses-heavy vehicles.

If voltage value produced by alternator is below the factory value;

Sulphation

If the voltage value produced by the alternator is above the default value;

OverCharce

3
STARTING SYSTEM OF VEHICLE

Value and time of current (a) drawn by starting motor should be checked.

If starting current of vehicle is above factory values;

Sulphation in Long-Term Use

If the cranking duration of the vehicle is above the default value;

Corrosion and/or OverCharge

  • If your battery is periodically maintained,
  • If your vehicle is left in parking position for a long time,
  • If your vehicle is not used for a short time and in short distance,
  • If batteries with appropriate capacity is used for your vehicle,
  • If vehicle consumers are not used for a long time when vehicle is in parking position, life of your battery will be extended.
4
FIXED CONSUMPTION OF VEHICLE (STRAY VOLTAGE)

WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARKING POSITION FIXED CONSUMPTION SHOULD BE 20 mA AT MAXIMUM FOR AUTOMOBILES AND 80 mA FOR BUSES-HEAVY VEHİCLES.

If consumption is higher than 20 mA for automobiles;

Sulphation in Long-Term Use

If it is above 80 mA for the buses and heavy vehicles;

Corrosion and/or OverCharge

  • You should apply to Authorized Battery Service points in case of battery discharges (unloading).
  • Discharged (unloaded) battery should be connected to rectifier (charger) and charged at Authorized Battery Service Points in accordance with service instructions after necessary checks are done.
