İnci Akü supports “Earth Hour” for a sustainable world
İnci Akü supported Earth Hour campaign organized for the purpose of seeking ways of change and drawing attention to the climate change for a healthier future for the world.
Under the Earth Hour campaign, the lights of İnci Akü’s production facilities, except the lightings for security purposes, were turned off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, March 31, 2012, simultaneously with the rest of the world. The Earth Hour event started when thousands of people in the City of Sydney, Australia turned off their lights for an hour at 8.30pm on the last Saturday of March in 2007 in order to draw attention to the climate change has turned into a global campaign in a short period of time. This year, İnci Akü supported this campaign which has been started to be organized in Turkey since 2009. Developing itself both in terms of corporate strategies and organizational aspects with respect to vital issues relating to the future of the world, İnci Akü turned off its lights for an hour under the organization held by WFF.
The organization which was widely participated under leadership of WFF was supported by the Bosphorus Bridge, 267 institutions, 12 Governorships, more than 20 municipalities, and thousands of people in 2011. The “Earth Hour” aims at reminding individuals and institutions of their responsibilities with respect to the future of the planet, and encouraging them for fighting against the climate change.
Thousands of symbolic structures were used in this campaign so far such as Sydney Opera Building in Australia, Bird’s Nest Stadium in China, Giza Pyramids in Egypt, Eiffel Tower in France, Empire State Building in the USA, and the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul.
